Anxiety Tips

Not all of us have the problem of needing to lose weight. Believe it or not, some members of the female sex have a problem keeping weight on and eating. Not to be put in the anorexia arena, but just plain old anxiety can shrink your stomach enough to not want to cook or eat. Coming from personal experience, I have some tips for those of you who have the same problem.

When our faces start showing too much age, we have to take a stand and make ourselves eat. Here are some tips to make that a bit easier.

Cook one day a week, and spend a few hours doing it. Make a big pot of soup, a casserole or Italian dish (like lasagna), and maybe even some cookies or cake. Keep some sweets that you really crave around, so at night you can indulge. You do not have to feel guilty, because you can use the calories.

Put everything in containers that are easy to get at, and freeze some. Make everything accessible, and fast to grab and cook, because if you’re a true, anxiety-ridden person, you’re not going to take the time to cook, because you don’t really want to eat.

When we’re anxious, it’s hard to eat fried food because most of us have sensitive stomachs, so try to keep it healthy. Put avocado or spinach on your sandwich instead of lettuce, go for the cheese, and enjoy stuff you can’t enjoy when you’re maintaining your weight. Keep protein bars, bananas, and shakes around for fast energy and protein. When you’re on the run and forget you haven’t eaten all day, and you’re leaving the house and say OMG I have to eat, then you can grab 3 or 4 things on the run, and you’re ok for a while.

I would have laughed at this when I was 25 pounds overweight and struggling to lose, but it’s nothing to laugh about. Believe it or not, you can get too skinny. My friend and partner was talking to me about all the stress at work. She is down to 110 pounds and looking pretty gaunt, so I gave her some tips. She laughed and thought of a few things she liked, and said she was going to go make a pot of chicken soup. Great! I helped her. My other friend and dear, dear MA oldie told me she is down to 104 pounds and has to wear sweats because her pants fall off. She is nursing two boys, and eats all night when they go to bed, but … Yup, time to wean the boys and get her poundage up.

SO girls, get cooking… just once a week. Store it in some easy places. Buy some delights and hide them for yourself. You won’t stay like this forever. Enjoy it! Everyone wants to be thin, or so they think so anyways. There will come a time when we have to watch it again and do the salad thing. Chow...
