Just Another Day



  
 Winters are long, and summers way too short...
 We would all like to know the future. Some even pay to try to find out the future. I had someone bring up an interesting point the other day, though. It was good, and it really made me think.

So, you wish for a million dollars, and in the future how that happens is... someone dies so you can get a settlement. What? Or you want world peace, and the next morning, you wake up, and nobody is on this earth except you. How lonely would that be? It’s hard enough being married your whole life, then being single all of a sudden. Can you imagine waking up, and not having anyone to talk to? Or call? Or see? I talk to my horses a lot. They are great. They don’t talk back, and they are always very happy to see me.

I am getting used to this being single thing. It’s weird, but it’s good for me... like castor oil. Hahaha. It’s so funny because everyone says “But you’re not alone; you have your daughter.” Yup, a 14 year old that talks on the phone, and the very last thing she wants to do is hang out with ol’ Mom. She is a very typical teenage girl – chatty Kathy with cell phone and a computer.

We live in the boonies, so we have to have some entertainment besides checking out the game (that’s wildlife to you city folk) across the street. I have nice binoculars, and a spotting scope, and have spent more than one sunset counting points on antlers. Why, we can even go across the street and shoot guns if we want to. That’s how hick we are.

Those are the fun little things in our world, though winters are long, and summers way too short. And the closest town with more than one store in it has more athletes than anywhere I have ever lived. Going to the gym can be an experience like no other. In fact, we have cocktail hour at the gym. So many jocks – they go to the gym instead of the bar. The cocktails are smoothies and power drinks. The only problem is the athletes that are really, really hot sometimes DON”T SPEAK ENGLISH. Yup... long winters and short summers. Life in the day of a GURLFYTR.
